Hemingway had the Finca Vigia. Carl Sanburg had Connemara.When a visitor tours one of these places it is made clear that the environment contributed to the writing. As graduate students in communication, we write. A lot. What does your work space look like? What would make more efficient?
We are online graduate students. What do you have to have on your computer? Are you a file freak, do you need a clean desktop or do you prefer lots of icons?
What words of advice would you share with an online graduate student that is just starting the program about their workspace?
My word of advice is to find what works best for you and doing it. Some people work best in the office, some on the couch, some on the floor. For me, having my own office and work space, where I can close the door when I do not want to me distracted. However, when my son comes home from school I move my PC into a common area and we sit side by side and do our homework.

ReplyDeleteMy word of advice would be to be prepared to work anywhere at any time. You never know when life might get in the way. I always bring my school work with me to the office just in case I get time to work on something. It came in handy the other day when there were major traffic delays on my route home, instead of sitting in hours of traffic I stayed in the office and got some work done.
